This is an easy way to get a preliminary idea of demand in less than 5 minutes, and for free. Go to Google’s Keyword Tool and do a search for keywords related to your product. Google will then tell you how many monthly searches are performed for various related keywords. These days everyone uses search engines to find what they need, so if no one is searching for what you want to sell, that’s not a good sign. On the other hand, if thousands of searches are being done for keywords closely related to your product, you might want to do some more research and take the next step!
